September 11th     Understanding Families

This educational and experiential workshop will emphasize the understanding of various family structures, the elements of a functional family, components of families form and Adlerian perspective, and challenges of living in a family across the life span. Emphasis will be on family values, family atmosphere, family constellation, gender and gender guide lines, familial socioeconomic status, and meeting the challenges of living.

 

September 12th    Counseling Families

Empowering families through implementing empathy, equality, encouragement, and education in a counseling setting will be the focal point of this workshop. Participants will learn specific Adlerian-based interventions to help families move and grow in personally positive and socially useful directions. Strategies for the measurement of change in family function will be included in this educational and interactive workshop. 

 

September 13th Understanding the Responses of Families to Loss and Grief

The Individual Psychology of Alfred Adler will be applied to the area of loss and grief in both and individual and family setting. Emphasis in this informative and experiential workshop will be on understanding types of loss and grief that effect individuals and families, determining specific wants and needs during and after the experience of and event that precipitates these feeling, and identifying personal and familial assets and strengths that empower people following loss and grief. Participants will develop a personal approach that will enable them to help themselves and others.

 

This series will have particular applicability to parents, teachers, social workers, counselors, personnel workers, and all who have an interest in understanding and helping themselves and others. Each day can either be a stand-alone experience or part of a three-day package.  For those interested in furthering their Adlerian studies, this will be part of a series of learning activities leading to a SAS 100 Hour Studies Certificate.
